Recent CareOregon policy changes have left many Medicaid clients without access to their counselors. If your provider is no longer in-network — or if you can’t find an available CareOregon counselor — you’re not alone.

I offer flexible rate counseling for Oregonians affected by these changes, so you can keep getting mental health support without long waits or insurance red tape.*

What’s Happening With CareOregon’s Counseling Changes?

CareOregon has narrowed its pool of providers, making it harder or impossible for Oregon Board registered counselors to serve Medicaid clients. As a result, many people are losing their current therapists, and finding long in-network waitlists.

Who This Is For?

You may benefit from this service if:

  • You lost your counselor because of changes in CareOregon’s provider policy.

  • You are struggling to find a new counselor through CareOregon’s provider list.

  • You don’t want to interrupt your care while waiting for an in-network provider to become available.

Why I’m Offering This Affordable Therapy Option

Mental health care is essential — especially during times of stress and change. I believe financial barriers and red tape shouldn’t prevent people from getting the support they need.

Contact me for a free, low-stress consultation. If you decide you would like to work with me, we can get you scheduled quickly for your first session. Just moving forward with a call can help you feel supported while navigating these changes.

How Flexible Rate Counseling Works

  • Determine a sustainable rate: You choose a fee that fits your budget during this transition.

  • No Insurance Needed: Direct pay means no claims, no denials. HSA/FSA accepted.

  • Online or In-Person: Sessions available across Oregon.

  • Short or Long-Term: Continue as long as you want. We will periodicially revisit your situation to assess how treatment is meeting your goals and financial need.

Do I have to live in Portland, Salem, Eugene, or another large town to access low-cost therapy services?

No, you can access services as an Oregonian from anywhere in the state of Oregon via a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. If you prefer in-person services, we will meet in my therapy space in Beaverton.

*What Should I Know Before Working with a Non-Contracted or Non-Medicaid Mental Health Provider? Will I lose my insurance?

No, you will not lose your Medicaid/Medicare benefits if you work with a non-Medicaid/Medicare mental health provider. You as a beneficiary of Medicaid/Medicare have a right to work with an in-network Medicaid/Medicare mental health provider and be reimbursed for their services. If you choose to work with a non-Medicaid/Medicare provider, neither you nor the out-of-network provider can be reimbursed by Medicaid/Medicare, and you are responsible for payment of fees for professional services. We will work together to identify a sustainable session fee, but Medicaid/Medicare will not reimburse you for any out of pocket expenses for services that I provide. I am happy to answer any questions you may have, and I am committed to making therapy sustainable for your situation.

Are associate counselors qualified to provide mental health services?

Yes, associate counselors (known as Professional Counselor Associates) are registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and are supervised by Licensed Professional Counselors as they work toward full licensure. Professional Counselor Associates have completed all required academic work at the graduate level and have the experience and training to provide high-quality mental health support through practica, internships, and employment prior to becoming board registered. Professional Counselor Associates are trained and prepared to support clients and must demonstrate proficiency prior to becoming board-registered. Clients are provided with the contact information for the counselor’s supervisor as well as the associate’s board registration number at the start of the therapeutic relationship. Clients can feel assured they are working with a well-supported and well-supervised therapist when they work with an associate counselor.
